El toque de queda que rige en cuatro provincias de Ecuador concluirá el próximo lunes, 30 de marzo, a las 05:00, según ratificó el ministro del Interior, John Reimberg.
El funcionario confirmó, en entrevistas con medios locales, que la medida “no se va a extender”, por lo que finalizará en la fecha prevista en el decreto ejecutivo vigente.
La restricción, que limita la circulación entre las 23:00 y las 05:00, se aplica desde el 15 de marzo en las provincias de Guayas, Los Ríos, El Oro y Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas.
De acuerdo con el documento oficial, el horario nocturno fue definido porque —detalla el decreto— se concentra “la violencia de alto impacto en las jurisdicciones focalizadas, por lo que resulta necesaria e idónea para facilitar las acciones de la fuerza pública, reducir la exposición de la población civil y limitar el margen de maniobra de las estructuras criminales”.
Datos de la Policía Nacional incluidos en el decreto evidencian incrementos en homicidios intencionales durante esa franja horaria en varias provincias. En El Oro, el aumento fue del 75 % entre el 1 de enero y el 28 de febrero de este año; en Los Ríos, del 77 %; en Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, del 50 %; y en Guayas, del 23 %, en comparación con el mismo periodo del año anterior.
